Sugaray Rayford

Caron Nimoy "Sugaray" Rayford undoubtedly ranks among the greatest blues singers of our era. Thus, we are privileged to witness his live performance at the Sierre Blues Festival on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

As a product of the gospel tradition, Sugaray Rayford seamlessly blends elements of Delta blues, gospel, rhythm and blues, and soul. His vocal delivery is both fervent and sensual, echoing the deep-rooted influences of his Texan upbringing and resonating with the commanding presence of Solomon Burke. With a voice that is both powerful and evocative, Sugaray embodies the essence of a Southern preacher. Raised in the Baptist church of East Pécos, Caron "Sugaray" Rayford began honing his musical talents at the age of 7, mastering drums and vocals.

His latest album, "In Too Deep," was honored with the Blues Soul Album of the Year award in 2023.
